Watching Kobato, 1/3

I've been watching Kobato. The auditive experience is like Hetalia in full format, with Chibitalia as a Magical Girl and the Puffin as his sidekick.

I finally found a trailer for the local dub of Rapunzel (shut up that's the name), and it - the dub - sounds like I'm going to hate it. Not the bad anime dubbing kind of bad, but Disney were always the brilliant ones and it is disheartening if they're just average ten years later (through efforts no doubt great, they've even managed to come up with a title that is worse than the English one). I read a review of Megamind that made a point out of how well that one was dubbed, and going by the trailer, it is. The only reason I can think of why Disney should put less effort into it would be that Pixar/Dreamworks has some presumed Young Adult appeal that Disney doesn't (fairy tales have no right to live after Shrek), but the Young Adult crowd would never watch a dubbed film anyway (dubs are for kids), so I just don't know. And probably shouldn't care as much as I do.

The animated film memeCollapse )

Related in the way that I wouldn't have found it if I hadn't gone to look up something because of this, I'll just leave the link to this and for one time in my life do it with the note that it is a two minutes of pure, brilliant distress.

What makes Hetalia appeal to me is largely the nonsensical nature. When the fandom is competing about how many badly executed literary references it can make in fic, I find it comforting that TPTB uses his blog for cat pictures.

SHINING AND BURNING

In celebration of Digimon Day, have an entry that is more than two years old! Back when it was the ten year anniversary, people were posting about it, and I put on my MP3 player and rode the trams in Germany while listening to it. I wrote this up, but I never got around to posting it. Please ignore the timestamp and pretend it was yesterday. Which it'll still be for most people likely to care about this.

Is Otoko Shibuki as epic as ever? That, plus much, much more, under the cutCollapse )
